Charles W. Mulley
..retired from Lucent; WWII Veteran; 82
TEWKSBURY - Charles W. Mulley, age 82, a retired Lucent technician and union activist, diedSaturday afternoon, Mar. 27, at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth E.(Sears) Mulley, with whom he would have celebrated a 62nd wedding anniversary on May 1st.
He was born in Chelsea, Oct. 4, 1921, the son of the late Rev. Wilfred Mulley and Mary (Butt)Mulley. He was raised in the Chelsea and Everett area and was graduated from Everett HighSchool. He had lived in Tewksbury since 1990.
During WWII, he served in the Army Air Force, in England, as a ground support crew radiotechnician.
Upon discharge, he began work at Western Electric. He retired from Lucent Technologies after42 years of service as an electronic technician. He was active in the Communication Workers ofAmerica union, and had served as vice-president of Local 1395.He had also worked as a carpenter at the telephone company, and later worked as a freelancecarpenter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Helen L. Mulley of Tewksbury; a son anddaughter-in-law, Charles A. and Joanna (Bonito) Mulley of Marlboro; four grandchildren, JoyMaynard of Millbury, William Mulley of GA, Lisa Fernandes of Marlboro, Tracy Weed ofWarwick, MA; 10 great grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Allen of Reading, Mary Perry of IL,Marjorie Ross of FL, Eileen McDougle of CA; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service was held Wednesday, Mar. 31, in the funeral home. Interment with Air Force honors was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in No. Tewksbury.
