Obituary

Worcester - Gertrude F. (Gregson) Alex Anderson, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at home. Her husband of 45 years, Alvan H. Anderson predeceased her in 1999. She leaves two sons, James M. Alex and his wife Angela of Dennis and John H. Anderson and his wife Sharon of Worcester; a daughter Susan J. Brackett and Robert Eisele of Boothbay, ME; 8 grandchildren - Michael, Jeffrey, David, Kendra, Caitlin, Jason, Cally, and Lisa; 6 great-grandchildren - Hannah, Alyssa, Kayala, Sias, Tyler, and Olivia; a sister Jeanette Porter, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three sisters - Ruth Healy, Dorothy Forsberg, and Loretta Hoefer.

Gertrude was born in Brookfield, January 2, 1920, daughter of Frank S. Gregson and Arzelie Marie (Dubois) Gregson. She graduated from West Brookfield High School. She worked for many years as a sales associate at her son's antique store, The Factory Flea in Worcester. She was an avid reader, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, loved antiques and thrift-store shopping. She enjoyed traveling, especially to her children’s homes on the coast of Maine and Cape Cod. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. One of her favorite quotes was “I have three wonderful children!” She enjoyed attending every dance recital or activity that her grandchildren or more recently great grandchildren were involved in and always gave each encouragement and support. Mom/Gram/Nanny will be sadly missed.

A celebration of Gertrude’s life is being planned with the date and details to be announced by the family.
