George A. Varney, 68, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 28, 2012 at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton.
Born in Brockton, MA on December 25, 1943, he was a son of the late George W. and Jeannette C. (Bergeron) Varney. He grew up in Easton and Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School.
George spent the majority of his life working as a horse groomer at thoroughbred horse tracks. His career took him throughout many states and he had recently moved to Mansfield, where he had made his home for the past 2 ½ years.
He was the brother of Lorette Hume of Maine, Walter Varney of Sandwich, Roger Varney of Mansfield, Margaret Holub of Carver, Virginia Beers of Florida and Gordon Varney of Sandwich, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
