WAYLAND: Helen Hayden Wehr went to heaven on January 23, 2012.
Born in Aberdeen, Washington on August 11, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Celeste Pratte Taylor Hayden and Basil Patrick Hayden. Her husband, Commander Richard Mathias Wehr, USN, preceded her in death on August 27, 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Wehr Gronewold and beloved son-in-law, David Allen Gronewold, of Wayland, MA, and her son, Richard Mathias Wehr, Jr., of Milwaukee, WI. She leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Andrew David Gronewold of Ann Arbor, MI and Elizabeth Gronewold Henry of Cambridge, MA and their spouses Sara Field Gronewold and Christian Garver Henry as well as granddaughters, Melanie and Andrea Wehr of Milwaukee, WI. In her later years, she was gifted with three great grandchildren, John and Michael Gronewold and Norah Henry who illuminated her life. She also leaves behind her two dear sisters, Colonel Celeste Hayden Van Landingham and Bernadette Hayden Laurenzana and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 124 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the church.
