Norman L. Torres, 75, of New Bedford died Saturday March 27, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Noreen (Perreault) Torres.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Frank and Anita (Viens) Torres, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Mr. Torres was formerly employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in the Shipping Department for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Torres served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1950. He enjoyed fishing off the Cape Cod Canal.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Torres of Fairhaven and Carl Torres of New Bedford; a daughter, Kim Marie Torres of New Bedford; three sisters, Anita Torres of New Bedford, Loretta Buckley of Milford, Conn., and Georgette Theodore of Acushnet; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Guy J. Torres, and brother of the late Shirley Rose, Theresa Andrade, Francis Torres, and Bernard Torres.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday April 3, 2004 at 9 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
