Obituary

Claudette M. (St-Hilaire) Litchfield age 75 of Brockton and Middleboro, died peacefully Saturday January 21, 2012 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert F. Litchfield. Claudette was born and raised in Chateau Richer, Quebec, Canada the oldest of nine children of the late Antonio and Marguerite (Cloutier) St- Hilaire. She moved to Brockton after her marriage in 1958 and following the death of her husband lived at Oak Point in Middleboro for ten years. Most recently she had resided in assisted living in Worcester.

For many years Claudette was payroll supervisor at the Brockton Enterprise. Previously she had worked for Massasoit Community College as an administrative secretary, at Bearce Insurance Agency and for Attorney James Fitzgerald all in Brockton. In her free time she enjoyed traveling and crafts, especially ceramics. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Brockton. Claudette will be remembered as an independent and affectionate lady who was always there to help others. Her family and grandchildren were the light of her life.

Claudette was the loving mother of Michelle “Mimi” Johnson and her husband Robert of Westminster, Mass., Steven Litchfield and his wife Sheila of West Hartford, Conn., David Litchfield of Taunton, MA and Richard Litchfield and his wife Pamela of Hopkinton, Mass. She leaves eight grandchildren Brian and Melissa Johnson, Colleen, Tommy and Matthew Litchfield, Joseph Cowing and Jack and Katie Litchfield. She was the oldest sibling of Yolande St-Hilaire, Lise Puro, Marcel St-Hilaire, Roger St-Hilaire, Nicole Smith, Jacqueline Laforge, Celine Cloutier and Gaston St-Hilaire all of Canada. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday January 26, 2012 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 9:30 am followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church 433 West Street, Brockton Mass. at 10:45 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Donations in Claudette’s name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
