Obituary

Vanasse, Sister Annette, RJM (Mother Mary of the Purification), age 87 on January 24, 2012 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was born October 8, 1924 in Providence, RI. Daughter of the late Omer and Roseanna (England) Vanasse. Sister Annette obtained a degree in nursing prior to entering the congregation of the Religious of Jesus and Mary in 1949. She used her nursing skills in the community for most of her religious life and was sent as a missionary to India in 1964 where it is said she became skilled at delivering babies to many mothers. In addition to her religious community, she is survived by two sisters, Sister Mary Vanasse, RJM (Rita) from Plainville, MA and Marie Vanasse (Marie Rose) from Pawtucket, RI as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will take place on Thursday January 26 at 6:30 PM at the Sisters of Charity, Mt. St. Vincent Community, 125 Oakland St. Wellesley. A wake service will take place on Friday January 27 at 9:30 AM at St. Martha's Church 227 South Street, Route 1A, Plainville, followed by a Funeral Mass honoring her life at 10:30 AM. She will be laid to rest with the Religious of Jesus and Mary in St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery in Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Sisters of Charity, Mt. St. Vincent Community, 125 Oakland St. Wellesley MA. 02481 or to the Retirement Fund of the Religious of Jesus and Mary 125 Michigan Ave. NE, 4th floor, Washington, DC. 20017.
