Obituary

SALEM - Marie (Georgilakis) Tranos, of Peabody, departed this life on Sunday morning, January 22, 2012. She was surrounded by many members of her family whom she had devoted her life to and by whom she was cherished and loved. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Charles L. Tranos.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Lithetakis) Georgilakis. Raised in Salem in her youth and residing in Peabody and Danvers where she raised her three children, she lived her remaining years in Peabody as a resident of the Penelope Apartments.

She worked for many years as a Quality Control Inspector in the electronic industry, starting as a young girl at Sylvania in Salem and moving on to CBS Hytron and Ratheon before retiring to dedicate her life nurturing her husband and family. She spent many years of travel with her beloved husband and close friends and resided during the winter months in West Palm Beach, Florida

She was a member of the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody for her entire life and was blessed with a life of incredible faith and trust in her Orthodox Christian beliefs.

She is survived by one son, Leon Tranos of Gloucester, two daughters, Janice Tranos of Rockport, Deborah O’Neill of Danvers, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The last of 9 siblings, she was predeceased by 5 brothers, George Larkin, Mike, Theodore, Stanley and Peter Georgilakis, and 3 sisters, Helen Hunt, Christine Skylar and Sophia Pouris

Her funeral will be held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, followed by a service at 10 am at the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home, relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem with a memorial luncheon to follow.
