Obituary

Torf, Benjamin 86, of Revere passed away on January 22, 2012. Ben was a resident of Revere for 80 years. He was a graduate of Boston Latin High School. Ben received his bachelors degree from Harvard University and received his masters from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Ben was a long time teacher of both biology and chemistry at Saugus High School. He was a former funeral director at the Torf Funeral Service and was also the election commissioner for the City of Worcester. Ben put his chemistry background and experience to use and invented several pest repellents. Currently, Ben still holds patents for his pest repellents.

Ben was the beloved life long partner of Ethel Blumenthal. He was the dear brother of Dorothy Berman and her husband Leo, the late Lena Millstone, the late Anna Garber, the late Bertha Weinberg and the late Rachel Priluck. He was the dear uncle of eleven.

Graveside services will be held at the New Tifereth Israel of Everett Cemetery, 232 Fuller St. Everett on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Phyllis Vitale on Wednesday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Donations in Ben’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001 or to the Leonard Florence Center for Living, 165 Captains Row Chelsea, MA 02150
