Malcolm Alligood, 88, of Fitzgerald, GA died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Fitzgerald Nursing Home in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at The Paulk funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Michael Ruffin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until the funeral hour on Tuesday.
Mr. Alligood was born October 15, 1923 in Meigs, GA to the late Arthur and Donie Warren Alligood. Living most of his life in the community, he was a former employee of Fitzgerald Ice Cmpany and retired owner and operator of White’s Auto, Home and Garden Store in Fitzgerald. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Alligood was former Chairman of the Ben Hill County Commission. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wives, Sue Drummond Alligood and Gladys R. Alligood.
He is survived by daughter, Carol Alligood King of Naples, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Judy Alligood of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren: Marena, Amy,Mackey and Brian and great-grandchild, Grahm.
