RAYNHAM – John M. Valadao, longtime Raynham resident, died at Tufts - New England Medical Center in Boston on Jan. 20, 2012.
He was 82.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel M. and Maria R. (daCosta) Valadao.
A self-employed carpenter, he co owned and operated the Valadao Travel Agency, Inc. with his wife of sixty years, Margaret (Dupont) Valadao.
They founded the company in 1964.
Mr. Valadao was a communicant of Holy Family Church in East Taunton, and a sixty-two year member of the East Taunton Holy Ghost Society.
In his spare time, he enjoyed carpentry and woodworking.
In addition to his wife of Raynham, John leaves a son, Edward Valadao and his wife Kathleen of Taunton; a daughter, Maria V. Gomes and her husband Bradford of Raynham; three brothers, Manuel Valadao and Joseph Costa, both of E. Falmouth, and Nemesio “Jim” Bettencourt of E. Taunton; two sisters, Mary Souto of Attleboro, and Hilda Sousa of Falmouth; five grandchildren, Erica and Nicholas Valadao, and Jessica, Alexander and Samantha Gomes; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Jan. 25th at 9:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, E. Taunton at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
