Frank R. Whiting, of Plymouth, died on January 18th at the age of 87 at Jordan Hospital. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Edith (Ritter) of Plymouth and his children Jan W. Whiting and his wife Joyce of Halifax, David S. Whiting and his wife Marie of Plymouth, Susan M. DiFazio and her husband Donald of Weymouth and Kathryn E. Licata and her husband Frank of Andover. He also leaves his cherished 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Born in Plymouth, Frank graduated from Plymouth High School, where he was class President and attended Worcester Polytech Institute until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy for two years, served in the European Theatre on a minesweeper during WWII. After his discharge from the Navy, he went to Harvard College where he graduated in 1947 with his Bachelors in Engineering. Frank was a member of the American Legion Post 40 and enjoyed gardening, yard work, boating, tennis, swimming and especially spending time with his family.
