Leona Brown Ecord, 82, of Jacksonville, Florida died Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at the Life Care Center in Orange Park, Florida.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 20 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald, GA with Brian Hurse and Chris Lettow officiating.
Mrs. Ecord was born June 8, 1929 in Fitzgerald, GA to the late James S. and Betty Gaskin Brown. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School and lived in Florida for the past fifty years. Mrs. Ecord was a homemaker and a former employee of the National Bank and Ashland Oil Company in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of Cedar Bay Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL and while living in Fitzgerald was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve & Felecia Ecord of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn & Mark Bradley of Mansfield, TX; 5 grandchildren, Lyndsey & Chris Lettow, Katie & Brian Hurse, Caroline & Kevin Howard, Christina Townsend and Peter Townsend; 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Nathan Brown of Callahan, FL and Jimmy & Betty Jean Brown of Fayetteville, GA. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Haygood Ecord.
