Michael “Mike” Jones, 57, of Abbeville, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 19 at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Baker and Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mike was born July 12, 1954 in Fitzgerald to Myra Joyce Latham Jones of Irwin County and the late Charles L. “Charlie” Jones. He lived in Wilcox County since 2003 and graduated from Irwin County High School in 1974. Mike was a retired Maintenance Mechanic from Delphi. He was a member of the UAW and the National Wildlife Federation, creating a backyard habitat. Mike was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. He had a love for the Ocmulgee River, motorcycling, woodworking and photography.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Paula Johnson Jones of Abbeville; children, Shane Jones of Irwin County, Kristyn (Andy) McCrimmon of Fitzgerald, Jody (Laura) Branch and Josh (Anna) Branch all of Irwin County; grandchildren, Danielle Jones, Gabe Jones, Magnum Jones, Mia McCrimmon, Brylee Branch, Shelby Branch, Cody Branch, McKenzie Branch and Harper Branch; sisters, Delane (Gerald) Brewer of Fitzgerald, Anissa Jones of Tifton and Kim Jones of Jacksonville, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.
