Miss Amy Rose Tucker, 84, of Tifton died Monday, January 16, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III and Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Russ Ponder, Elliott McCrary, Roggie Dunn, Bob Tucker, Bo Tucker and Nick Tucker, nephews of Miss Tucker, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Raley Coed Sunday school class at Tifton’s First Baptist Church, Georgia Power Ambassadors and the Birthday Club. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2012, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Miss Tucker was born on March 24, 1927 in Tift County and was the daughter of Warren Lot Tucker and Eva Leslie Kirkland Tucker, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy W. Tucker and William E. Tucker; and one sister, Lillian Tucker. Miss Tucker was a graduate of Tifton High School and Abraham Baldwin College. She retired from Georgia Power Company and was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Raley Coed Sunday school class. She was also a member of Bosom Buddies, the Camellia Garden Club, the Birthday Club, the Georgia Power Ambassadors and the Tifton-Tift County Arts Council.
Miss Tucker is survived by one sister, Sarah Ann Ponder of Omega; two nieces, Sarah Alice McCrary and Patricia Dunn; and five nephews, Russ Ponder, Bob Tucker, Bo Tucker, Nick Tucker and Joe Tucker.
