Alice “Betty” E. (Eastman) Potter 87, of Natick passed away on Saturday January 14 ,2012 at the Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the beloved wife of Everett A. Potter with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage on November 10, 2011.
Born in Peabody she was the daughter of the late Harold and Vivian (Fletcher) Eastman of Amherst NH.
Betty is survived by her son James Potter and his wife Margaret of Natick, grandsons Thomas and his wife Terryn (Donahue) of Whitinsville, Kevin and his wife Danielle Sullivan of New Britain CT., granddaughter Christine Potter of Honolulu HI, great-grandsons, James and Michael Potter of Whitinsville, and several nephews and one niece.
She was predeceased by her brother Harold Eastman Jr.
Mrs. Potter was a devoted grandmother and spent many weekends standing on the sidelines of her grandchildren’s football, soccer, and basketball games and at cheerleading competitions and dance recitals.
Prior to her retirement in February of 1990, Betty was employed for 22 years, at Leonard Morse Hospital. She started out working in the housekeeping unit prior to becoming a Ward secretary on 5 South and the Intensive Care Unit. She had previously worked at the Framingham Hat Shop and the former Queenland Robes Company. She was a graduate of Milford High School class of 1942.
Betty had a great love for her cats, and the birds and squirrels that would visit her yard for daily treats. She also enjoyed gardening and was an avid Bingo player. She especially enjoyed summer vacations spent with her family at York Beach Maine.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday January 18, at 11:30 A.M. in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street ,at Natick Common.
Burial will follow in Dell Park Cemetery.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M.
