Obituary

Trudy Lumia
Middlesex Community College Administrative Assistant

TEWKSBURY: Trudy (Gertrude M. Boyan) Lumia, passed away on January 14, 2012.
She was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Larry Lumia, Sr., who together celebrated 42 blissful years of marriage until his death on November 24, 2009. They are finally together again dancing in each other's arms to their favorite melodies which will linger on forever.
Born on September 1, 1943, in East Boston, Trudy was the first child of Mary and Robert Boyan.
She attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from Fitton Central Catholic High School in 1961.
Throughout her life she was the matriarch for both the Boyan and Lumia families. She deeply loved all of her family and friends and was forever grateful for their love in return.
After working as a private secretary in Boston, Trudy and Larry started their family. They finally settled in Tewksbury in early 1975 where they raised their four precious children with great pride, love, conviction and determination. There was always only one real rule to follow in life. Do unto others as you would do unto yourself. Live by the Golden Rule. Spending time talking to, laughing with, mentoring and teaching her children and grandchildren was what Trudy treasured most in life.
After family and friends, working outside the home was also an enjoyable part of life for Trudy, who worked in the accounting department for a freight forwarder in East Boston for 22 years and then in 2001 she went to work for Middlesex Community College in Lowell as an administrative assistant. Here she would not only find a job she liked but friends and coworkers whom she loved and they became her second family. She continued working until sickness require her to resign.
Surviving Trudy are her four devoted and beloved children and her four "favorite" children in law, Dawn Lumia Monahan, Ken Monahan, Larry and Kristen (Hollis) Lumia, Jr., Michael and Tammy (Baker) Lumia, and Tina and Brian Kierce. Trudy also leaves behind her ten adoring grandchildren, Megan Rochette, Patrick and Ryan Monahan, Daniel, James and Molly Kierce, Matthew, Lila, Lauren and Allie Lumia.
Also surviving her are her much loved siblings, Robert and Cathy Boyan, John Boyan and Judi Clermont, Mary Kennedy, Thomas Boyan and Carol Boyan. She also leaves behind her many nieces and nephews and her grand nieces and nephews and many, many friends. All who knew and loved Trudy will miss her great smile, her wise loving ways and the sound of her laughter.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Jan. 19, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 20, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
