Edward E. Ferreira
Retired Pipefitter for Local 537

TEWKSBURY: Edward E. Ferreira, age 80, a resident of Tewksbury for 56 years and a member of the Lowell First Church of the Nazarene, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Lillian E. (Myllykangas) Ferreira, with whom he celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on August 21, 2011.
Born in Stoneham on August 27, 1931, he was the son of the late John Ferreira and the late Cleo L. (Brannen) Ferreira.
Ed was raised in East Boston, attended East Boston schools and graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1950.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.
Mr. Ferreira was awarded several decorations for his military service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Japan Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed for over 40 years as a Pipefitter by Local # 537 of Boston and worked for Harris Environmental Systems until his retirement.
Ed enjoyed woodworking and furniture construction and traveling with his wife to Portugal, the U.S. National Parks, Germany and a cruise through the Panama Canal.
In addition to his beloved wife, Ed is survived by four children, Laura A. Constantine and her husband Ken of Hartford City, IN, Virginia A. Marshall of Tewksbury, Edward A. Ferreira and his wife Kathleen (O'Brien) of Dracut and Ruth A. Oliver and her husband Dennis of Tewksbury; one sister, Laura McEwen of Maine; eight grandchildren, David, Catherine, Stephen, Tim, Lindsay, Hannah, Greg and Brad; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ferreira was the brother of the late John and Arthur Ferreira.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 4-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m., at the Lowell First Church of the Nazarene, 1195 Varnum Ave., Lowell. There will not be a procession from the funeral home. Kindly meet at church by 10:45 a.m.. Following cremation, interment will be at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to Greater Lowell V.N.A.-Hospice, 336 Central St., Lowell, MA 01852.
