Robert E. Knoph, age 89 of Prosser, entered into rest on January 8, 2011 at Prosser Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 24, 1922, the only child of Edward Walter and Hannah A. (Buer) Knoph in Seattle, Washington, where he was raised and graduated from Garfield High School in 1939. He then served as a Merchant Marine radio operator from 1941 to 1957. In May of 1957, Robert and Phyllis Lorraine Lemon were married in Seattle. He was a cook at several restaurants and then for the Bon Marche at South Center for many years until moving to San Francisco Bay area where he drove for a courier service for a few years. In 1983, he and Phyllis settled in Prosser.
Robert loved to fish, was a rock hound and enjoyed collecting and polishing stones.
Robert is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Richland; his son Charles “Ed” Knoph of Portland, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
At Robert’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prosser First Presbyterian Church.
