Obituary

Sylvia “Sally” LaFrance Leenhouts, 69, of Manchester, NH died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Vermont Respite House in Williston, Vermont after a battle with cancer. Sally was born October 6, 1942 in Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of Elyse (Hamilton) Lang and Jerome Neptune (deceased). She was raised in Barrington NH. by her mother and her step father Joseph Gerard LaFrance (deceased). Sally graduated from St. Charles Grammar School (1956) and Dover High School (1960). She fulfilled a childhood dream and became a Registered Nurse in 1985, retiring in 2005 from Elliot Hospital. Sally spent her life “dabbling” in various arts and crafts and thankfully discovered her talent with pastel’s. We are all now blessed with various creations of hers that we can enjoy forever. Sally was married to Max Leenhouts (deceased) and is survived by her mother Elyse; son, Chris Rogers of Charleston, SC; daughter Sherry (Rogers) Pidgeon of Essex Junction, VT; two sisters, Constance (LaFrance) Elrod, Mimi (LaFrance) Glenn; two brothers, Robert LaFrance and Jerry LaFrance; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Pidgeon, Thomas Pidgeon and Chloe Rogers; son-in-law Kenneth Pidgeon; several cousins, nieces nephews and grand nieces and nephews; her first husband Mel Rogers; Max’s family, Molly Leenhouts, Rebecca Shuman, Martha Collins and Steven Leenhouts; and new found family in Kansas, Dolores Cobb & Loreta Fox and their families. Sally also leaves behind three of the truest friends one could hope for, Mary Leidermer, Siri Mosher and Sally Sites. And finally her Bichon Frise and constant companion, Mili. According to Sally’s wishes, a private service of family and friends will occur Friday, February 3, 2012 from 4pm to 8pm at The Woodland Club located at 3024 Countryside Blvd, Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, suite 250, Dallas TX 75244 and/or The Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston VT 05495. J.N.
