Obituary

Kearns, Kenneth J. “Uncle Freddie” of Quincy, formerly of the South End passed away January 10, 2012. Beloved husband of Ruth (Taylor) Kearns of Quincy. Brother of Denise Crowley of Braintree, Donald J. Kearns of Florida and the late Charles R. Kearns II and Gerald F. Kearns. Devoted uncle of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and the late Charles R. Kearns III.

Kenneth was born in Boston and lived in the South End before settling in Quincy where he lived for the past 45 years with his wife Ruth. He worked as a Union Laborer Local 223 in Dorchester for 42 years. Ken was devoted to his church and an active member of St. Joseph’s prayer community in Quincy. He was a practical joker who loved telling stories and talking with people. Ken was a caring person who loved his family. An avid sports fan he enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots. Ken cherished the fact that he never missed the annual Quincy Christmas Parade.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Kenneth may be made to Father Bill’s Place, Administrative Office, Quincy, MA 02169 or Servants of Christ Ministries, 87A Maple St. Scituate, MA 02066-3609.
