Obituary

JOHNSON, WILLIAM A. “Bill” or “W.A.”, 79, of Louisville, passed away January 9, 2012 at Good Samaritan Home with his family at his side. He was greeted in Heaven by his loving wife of 59 years Delta Mae, who passed away just two weeks earlier. He was born August 8, 1932 in Clarkson, KY to Claud and Janie Johnson. He was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Jeffersontown.

Bill served his country in the Army during the Korean War. After returning to the states, he started his own real estate business. He was successful builder, broker and businessman.

Bill came from a farming family and continued to farm throughout most of his life. He was an innovator and an inventor and acquired numerous patents through the years. He started his own farm implement supplies company, WA Johnson, Inc. in 1988 where he was acting president and CEO.

He is survived by his three children, Daniel Johnson (Sherry), Timothy Johnson (Kathy) and Lori Richardson (David); nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Bill came from a family of nine children. He is survived by three brothers, Farrell, Gene and Roy Owen; and two sisters, Shirley and Anna Lee.

Visitation Thursday, January 12, from 2-8pm and funeral service Friday, January 13, at 11am. Both visitation and funeral will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church located at 4305 Hopewell Road, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown.
