WHITMAN - Carleton E. Vaughn, 85, of Whitman died Saturday, March 20, at Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Margaret L. (Cummings) Vaughn.
Born and raised in Brockton, he was a son of the late Earl J. and Nina (Snow) Vaughn.
He attended Brockton schools and had worked for the Murray Carver Factory in East Bridgewater.
Mr. Vaughn was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had previously served in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Thomas E. Vaughn of Sharon, Elizabeth A. Jordan of Quincy, Jean E. Pierce of Raynham, David L. Perry of Lakeville and Deborah S. Appleby of Whitman; a sister, Mariam Johnson of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was a brother to the late Ruth Vaughn.
His funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday in Faith Chapel Assemblies of God, 340 Pleasant St. (Rte. 104), Bridgewater.
Visiting hours are Tuesday 4-8 p.m. in Faith Chapel Assemblies of God. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery, Mattapoisett. Arrangements by Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater.
