Luna Gray Vickers, 92, of Locust Grove, Georgia (formerly of Ocilla), died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Westbury Medical Care Home in Jackson, Georgia just a few days shy of her 93rd birthday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Monday, January 9, 2012 at Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mickey Harris and Bro. Scott Pope officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ms. Vickers was born January 12, 1919 in Irwin County, Georgia to the late John E. & Nancy Paulk Gray. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Dill’s Grocery as a cashier for over 20 years. She was an avid gardener and had lived in Locust Grove since 2005, moving from Irwin County. She was a member of the Rock Springs Church in Milner and a former member of Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Linda & Tim Castellaw of Locust Grove; son and daughter-in-law: Billy & Carol Vickers of Hartwell; four grandchildren: Suzanne (Mike) Cain, Robyn (Jerry) Hairston, Tracy Woodall, and Mark (Beth) Steel; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a niece: Betty Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild: Trent Steel and a sister: Laura Cannady.
