Obituary

ROCKPORT: Margaret L. “Peggy” (Lufkin) Joseph, 81, died Friday, January 6, 2012 in the Golden Living Center, Gloucester following an extended illness. She was the wife of George S. Joseph.
Born Gloucester on September 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Theresa (Cody) Lufkin. She had resided in Gloucester for many years before moving to Rockport five years ago. Peggy was a graduate of St. Ann’s High School class of 1947, where she was a cheerleader, was active in the school plays and sang in the choir.
Peggy was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church. An avid reader, she enjoyed swapping books with her son-in-law, David. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening and loved to watch John Wayne movies. She also loved to travel, especially to Hawaii. An animal lover, she enjoyed cats and swans.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, MaryAnn Goodhue of Gloucester, Theresa A. and her husband, David Wheeler of Gardner, Joanne Catalini of Gloucester and Lisa Ann Joseph of Rockport; four grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Goodhue and Dawn and Toni Catalini all of Gloucester; two great-granddaughters, Maddison and Laycee Goodhue both of Gloucester; one step-brother, Jerome and his wife, Cecile Pimental of Newbury and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Ann Purdy, her brother, Robert Lufkin, her step-brother, Arthur Pimental and step-father, Jerome Pimental.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Prospect St., Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
