Obituary

Roland D. Martineau, 83, of Manchester, died March 20, 2004, at his residence, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Manchester, January 5, 1921, he was a son of Joseph and Elsie (Collins) Martineau. He was a lifelong resident of this city.

He served in the Army during World War II and later served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Martineau was a retired masonry contractor.

He served on the NH State Legislature for many years and had been very active in local politics. He was a member and past state commander of the Catholic War Veterans, and was a member of the American Legion Jutras Post.

He was a very active parishioner of St. Marie Church where he was a member and past president of the Sacred Heart League. In addition he was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood Monastery, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Family members include his wife of 55 years, Therese A. (Bolduc) Martineau of Manchester; two daughters, Lisa A. Martineau of Manchester, and Ann M. Szelog of Hooksett; a son, Alan R. Martineau of Goffstown; four grandchildren, Jason Szelog, Stephen Szelog, Matthew A. Martineau, and Shelby D. Martineau; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday March 26, 2004 at Sacred Heart Church. Encryptment followed in Mount Calvary Mausoleum.
