Obituary

Pamela June “Mimi” (Florop) Waterman, 69, passed away January 2 at home.

She was born in Westerly on June 1, 1942 to the late William R. and Pearl (Barlow) Florop. Mimi spent her early years in Stonington and Portland, CT. After her schooling at Upsala and URI, she was wed to her summer sweetheart, Thomas Waterman on June 20, 1964. They moved to Canterbury in 1972.

She was employed as a rural letter carrier for over 20 years and had raised dairy goats for over 30 years. Mimi enjoyed raising her family in the country. Her favorite times were spent with her family, fishing, swimming in the pool, watching the grandchildren’s sports activities, and playing (winning) scrabble. She also spent endless hours researching genealogy.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Waterman; her two children and their spouses, Wendy A. Holowaty of Griswold and Scott T. Waterman of Plainfield; 4 grandchildren, Adam and Lacy Holowaty and Joseph and Paige Waterman; and a sister, Barbara Doolittle.

Our family would like to extend our thanks to all of the staff and nurses of the DKH Hospice & Homemakers of Northeastern CT and our visiting angels Heather and Krista.

A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Her family will gather privately for burial at Stonington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to DKH Hospice & Homemakers of NECT, 320 Pomfret St., Putnam CT 06260.
