Mrs. Doris Powell Newman
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, January 3, 2012, Mrs. Doris Powell Newman, 91, wife of the late Mr. Morris J. Powell and the late Mr. Wilbur Newman.
Mrs. Newman was born in Blythe, GA and lived in the Augusta area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. Mrs. Newman was very devoted to her Lord, Church and Family.
Family members include: son, Thomas M. Powell, Sr. of Augusta (Phyllis); daughter, Bobbie Lee Ziccarelli of North Augusta; 8 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Charles A. Powell.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Dr. Michael Davenport officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
