Obituary

Allan C. Kingsbury, Sr. of Carver – Allan Compton Kingsbury, Sr. died peacefully at home on the evening of January 1, 2012 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was 71. Born in Holliston, Mass. to Paul and Susan (nee MacPherson) Kingsbury, he spent his childhood in both Holliston and Prince Edward Island. Mr. Kingsbury served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Des Moines (CA-134) with the 6th Fleet homeported in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France, which allowed him to travel the Mediterranean. Upon his return, Allan became a land surveyor which ultimately brought him to Cape Cod where he started his own firm, Kingsbury Surveying. He was also a Master Mason for thirty-five years and a member of the Cawnacome Sunshine Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Buzzards Bay. In Carver, Allan proudly served as a dedicated member of the town’s Planning Board. Not withstanding his illness, Allan campaigned in 2011 for re-election. Although running uncontested, he did not take the voters for granted and campaigned vigorously, making appearances at several events.
Survivors include his beloved, Sandra Cheverie; daughter, Julia Kingsbury and son-in- law, Carlos Spinelli of New York, N.Y.; son, Allan, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sayuri; son, Phillip; his greatest source of joy, his grandchildren, Hunter, Chloii, Renna, Lilia and Charles; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Eileen; nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends.
His friends and family will remember him as a man who loved life. Allan had an endless source of optimism. He was compassionate, sensitive to the human condition and generous with his time and love for family and friends. Allan was a renaissance man, enjoying science, politics and religion. He found beauty and fascination in the creations of man and nature.
