Mary (Mamacos) Kouracles, of Medford, died at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Saturday evening. She was 93.
Mary was born and raised in Boston, the daughter of the late Emanuel and the late Irene (Scoulos) Mamacos. After high school, Mary attended and graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music, where she studied piano. After graduation, she taught piano for over 25 years at her Medford home. Mary was also a great entrepreneur, helping family members in restaurant and fishing businesses. Most of all she was a devoted wife and mother who had a special place in her heart for her loving grandchildren.
The beloved wife of John Kouracles, She was a devoted mother to Anne McNeil and her husband Paul of Windham, NH, Peter Kouracles and Irene Kouracles both of Medford, Joanne Markus and her husband Robert of Andover. She leaves her loving grandchildren: Jillian, Victoria, Carli, Bobby, Garrett and Brandon. Mary is predeceased by her siblings: Metaxia Gerakis, Peter and James Mamacos.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, January 5th at 11 AM followed by a Funeral Service in the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Avenue, Woburn, at 12 Noon. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home, Wednesday 4 – 8.
