Lucy Arruda, age 87 of Somerset, passed away Dec. 31, 2011 at the Dighton Nursing Center. She was the beloved wife of John M. Arruda and the daughter of the late Manuel & Maria (Mello) Caetano. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Arruda worked as a Nurses Aide at the former Truesdale Hospital & Charlton Memorial Hospital. She had previously worked in the Textile Industry. She enjoyed sewing & cooking.
Besides her husband of Somerset, she is survived by her daughter: Geraldine "Gerri" Laforge (husband Roger) of Rehoboth and Susan Pendelton (husband Andrew) of Salem, NH; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Duarte Caetano, Rose Motta, Beatrice Farias, & Phoebe Raposa.
Her private funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on FRIDAY. Private burial in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Public Calling hours on THURSDAY 4-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
