Ruth M. Newcomb

...formerly of Andover; Western Electric; 85

TEWKSBURY - Ruth M. Newcomb, 85, a longtime Andover resident, died Friday afternoon,March 19, at the Life Care Center in North Billerica. She was the wife of the late George H.Newcomb, who died in 1981.

She was born in Andover, Sept. 21, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Anna (Wilcox)Webb. She was raised in Andover and attended Essex Agricultural High School in Topsfield. She lived the greater part of her life in the Ballardvale section of Andover, before moving toTewksbury 27 years ago.

She was retired from Western Electric in North Andover, where she had been an electronicinspector.

She was past president of the Ladies Elks Club of Andover, and enjoyed cooking and crocheting.In her later years she devoted most of her attention to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be best remembered for her love of life.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Fred Shattuck of Tewksbury; two sonsand daughters-in-law, Harold and Patricia (Demers) Newcomb of Belmont, N.H., Phillip andBetty Ann (Shelley) Newcomb of Tewksbury; a sister, Adelide Shorten of Andover; a brother,Philip Webb of Andover; eight grandchildren, Fred, Randy, Adam, Brian and Ronald Newcomb,Christine Vallante, Lynn Wilson, Jennifer Letcher; eight great grandchildren; and many dearfriends.

She was also mother of the late Kenneth Newcomb; and sister of the late Bradford, Alfred andWilliam Webb.

At her request funeral services were private.
