Obituary

New Bedford – Anna (Soares) Turcato, 84, wife of Antone Turcato, of Rochester, died Friday, March 19, 2004, unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born in South Dartmouth, the daughter of the late Manuel and Ermalinda (DeMello) Soares, she had lived in Rochester for the last 55 years. Prior to her retirement she was a stitcher in various shops in the area.

Mrs. Turcato loved to cook for her family and spend time with them especially her great grandchildren. She was known as Aunt Annie and loved to spend time at home working in her yard. She also enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles and scrap booking. Everyone who knew her loved her and she was always giving of her time.

Survivors including her husband are a daughter: Anne Ashley and her husband Elton A. Ashley, Jr. of Rochester; a sister: Ruth Vital of Dartmouth; 2 granddaughters: Tracey A. Buzniak and her husband Christopher A. Buzniak of Acushnet and Elizabeth A. Ashley of Rochester; 2 great grandchildren: Ashlyn E. Buzniak of Acushnet and Andrew E. Buzniak of Acushnet; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Lydia Moura, Mary Almeida and Virginia Macedo.

Services to which friends and relatives are invited will be held Monday, March 22, 2004 at 8:00 P.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.

Calling hours will be Monday 6 – 8 P.M. prior to the service.

Interment will be at a later date.
