Tina J. (Cardetta) Andreottola, of Medford, died peacefully on Saturday at the Wingate Nursing Center in Reading. She was 85.
Tina was born and raised in Bari, Italy the daughter of the late Vito and the late Antonietta (Fasano) Cardetta. During World War II, a member of the US Army Air Corps, Nicholas Andreottola was stationed in Bari as Italy was liberated. The two fell in love and were soon married. When the war ended, Tina sailed for America on the Red Cross ship, the USS Algonquin. She settled with Nicholas in Medford and together raised their family. Devoted to her family, Tina helped her husband operate their store, Andre’s Market. Tina was a devout member of Saint Francis and was a member of the Mother’s Club, Sodality, Choir and served as a Den Mother for the parish Cub Scout Troop.
The beloved wife of Nicholas F. Andreottola, she was a devoted mother to Michael of Andover, Nicholas F., Jr and his wife Mary of Tewksbury, Phyllis Andreottola of Londonderry, NH, Marie Andreottola Cirelli and her husband Jay of Lakeville and a dear mother-in-law of Susan Andreottola of Stoneham. She leaves her loving grandchildren: Nicholas, James, Katie, Heather, Olivia, Michael, Christopher, Mark and loving great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Nolan and Abigail. She was the sister of Dominic Cardetta of Bari, Italy and the late Anna D’Ettore and Nicholas Cardetta.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Thursday, December 29th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Wednesday 3 – 8.
