NIX, LAVERNE "ANN," 81, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at her residence.
She was born in Louisville to Raymond and Frances (Hentrup) Russ. Ann was a devoted homemaker and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 49 years, Chester S. Nix; a sister, Doris Powell; and a niece, Lisa Powell.
Survivors include her daughters, Regina Cain, Gayle Slayton (Philip), Denise Renn (Tommy), and Stephanie Kuerzi (Ronnie). She was a loving "Nanny" to her five grandchildren, Philip Slayton Jr. (Melissa), Melissa Hayes (Collin), Rachel Miles (Daniel), Ronnie Kuerzi Jr. (Nicole), and Jennifer McDonald. She was a very special "Boo" to her 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Raymond Russ and John D. Russ (Dottie).
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1925 Lewiston Dr., with entombment in Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Monday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy.
