Obituary

Evan Brian Rousseau, 47, of New Bedford died Friday December 23, 2011 suddenly at home.

Born in New Bedford, the son of Paul N. and Dorothy B. (Kennedy) Rousseau, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mr. Rousseau was formerly employed as a correctional officer at MCI Walpole until his retirement. He had also been a radio personality for Radio Station WBSM for many years.

He was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.

Active in volunteer work throughout the Greater New Bedford community, he was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Sixth Bristol Club. He was a former constable for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He is survived by his parents; his children, Erin G. Rousseau of New Bedford and Joshua Evan Rousseau of East Freetown; his siblings, Brenda Rousseau of New Bedford, Glenn Rousseau and his wife Jane of Lakeville, and Gail Araujo and her husband John of Virginia Beach, VA; his nieces and nephews, Morgan and Collin Rousseau and Quentin and Reina Araujo; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
