Daniel H. Ruckriegel, Sr., 70, of Jeffersontown passed away December 22, 2011 at his residence.
He was currently a Jeffersontown City council member who also served as Mayor of Jeffersontown for nearly two decades , past president of the Kentucky League of Cities , involved with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency , he was an electrician and started Ruckriegel Electric Co., he was a Captain as a volunteer with the Jeffersontown Fire Department, a Kentucky Colonel , a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and a life time member of the City of Jeffersontown Chamber of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary “Suggie” Ruckriegel and his brothers, Bobby Joe and Mike Ruckriegel.
Survived by his wife, Paulette Harpring Ruckriegel, children, Daniel H. Ruckriegel, Jr. (Roxie), David A. Ruckriegel (Sheila), and Debbie Hendrick (Keith), step-daughter, Lauren Harpring, brothers, Charles (Beverly) , Jim (Karen) and Tom (Linda) Ruckriegel, sisters, Elizabeth Berger, Alice (David) Hortenberry, Millie Boss and Dorothy (Doug) Walker, grandchildren, Daniel H. (Trey) Ruckriegel, III, Grace Ruckriegel, Morgan Ruckriegel, Brock Ruckriegel, Kameron Hendrick and Cooper Hendrick.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am, Wednesday at St. Edward Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Helen Drive. Visitation Monday, 4-8 pm and Tuesday, 1-8 pm at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Rd. Burial St. Edward Catholic Church Cemetery.
