Obituary

William A. Luminiello, 96, of Fairhaven died Thursday December 22, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary Y. (Ditata) Luminiello; they were married for 62 years.

Born in Taunton, the son of the late Carmine and Mary (Matrone) Luminiello, he lived in Fairhaven for most of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Mr. Luminiello was formerly employed as a machinist for the Acushnet Company until his retirement.

During World War II, he served as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army and participated in the Battles of Guadalcanal and New Guinea. He was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 1818.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Diane Ste. Marie and her husband Joseph, and Nancy Beaumont and her husband Rick, all of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Keri Monroe, Marc Ste. Marie, Erin Lopes, and Andrew Beaumont; seven great-grandchildren, Jason, Austin, Gabriel, Adin, Dante, Elaine, and Emilia; several nieces and nephews; and his cat, Muffin.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted.
