James Trainor

...of North Andover, Navy veteran; 71

North Andover -- James Trainor, 71, a resident of North Andover for 25 years and a U.S. Navy Veteran, died Saturday, Feb. 16, after a long illness. He was the husband of Jean Agnes (Ackley) Crowley Trainor for over 25 years.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1930, son of Thomas and Maria (Burns) Trainor and was raised in Reading.

In July of 1948, he entered the Navy, where he was a radar operator and was also trained in fire fighting on the USS Mount Olympus. He completed four years of service.

He was a quality inspector for the U.S. Government for 37 years and worked for General Electric and the Boston Navy Yard as an electrician.

Mr. Trainor was an avid golfer and in his later years was a member of the American Legion of Reading Post # 0062 for over 20 years and was a member of the senior league at the Hill View Country Club in N. Reading.

He leaves his wife, Jean A. (Ackley) Crowley Trainor; two stepsons, Christopher J. and his wife Betty Crowley, residing in Florida, and Patrick J. Crowley of Derry, N.H.; two stepdaughters, Elaine L. and her husband Charles Hail of Pelham, and Priscilla and her husband Charles Marsden of Methuen; two brothers, William Trainor in Florida, and John Trainor of Saugus; two sisters, Rita Sweeney of Woburn and Louise Fonga, in Michigan

His funeral was held Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Funeral Home.
