Evelyn Larkin, 93

Evelyn (McGee) Larkin, 93, of Mansfield, formerly of Hyde Park, West Roxbury, and Roslindale, passed away on Friday December 23, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. She was the former wife of the late Thomas N. Larkin.
Born in South Boston, MA on June 9, 1918, she was a loving daughter of the late Jeremiah and Catherine (Duffy) McGee.
Evelyn grew up in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, was educated in Boston schools and was a 1936 graduate of Jamaica Plain High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Larkin was a Ward Secretary at the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain where she had been employed for 20 years.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 34 years, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield.
Evelyn loved spending time in the presence of her adoring family. She liked reading and spending time at the beach, was proud of her Irish heritage, and enjoyed listening to Irish music.
The devoted mother of Maureen Bernard and her husband Tom of Mansfield and the late Thomas P. Larkin, she was the dear sister of the late John McGee, Francis McGee, and Leo McGee; and is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Doreen Prendergast, Derek Prendergast and Jeannine Cook, as well as her great grandchildren Ben and Catherine Hunt and Olivia and Nora Cook. Mrs. Larkin was pre-deceased by 2 grandchildren; Michael Prendergast and Michele Prendergast.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday December 28th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday December 27th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Evelyn’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Patients Activity Fund at the Epoch Senior Healthcare, 184 Mansfield Ave., Norton, MA 02766.
