Obituary

Claudia (Wong) Wong, 81, of Fairhaven died Thursday December 22, 2011 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Sherman Wong.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Charlie and Jade (Woo) Wong, she lived in Fairhaven for most of her life.

Mrs. Wong and her late husband owned and operated Charlie Wong's Restaurant in Downtown New Bedford. She later worked in the family business, the Cathay Temple in Mattapoisett.

An avid football fan, she especially enjoyed watching the New England Patriots.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Smith and her husband Kevin of Acushnet; her grandchildren, Bethany Smith of South Boston and Timothy Smith of Fairhaven; her siblings, Sue van Wiggeren and May Moy and her husband Philip, all of Fairhaven, Deborah Holt of Westport, CT, Dennis Wong and his wife Ann of Dartmouth, and Stephen Wong and his wife Margaret of Mattapoisett; and nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Meline Loo and Loy Wong.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
