John M. Ferreira, Jr.

TEWKSBURY: John M. Ferreira, Jr. age 79, a lifelong Tewksbury resident and communicant of St. Williams Parish, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at home.
Born in Lowell on June 4, 1932, he was the son of the late John M. and Mary (Bettencourt) Ferreira.
John attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from the Lowell Trade School.
Mr. Ferreira served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal .
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as the Yard Manager by Jack's Automotive Parts in Billerica, where he worked for 35 years.
John was a member of the Vintage Motor Car Club of America and the Tewksbury Historical Society.
He enjoyed restoring antique automobiles and had passion for Tewksbury history.
John is survived by his sister, Lillian M. Carvalho of Nashua, NH; many nieces and nephews including, Robert Ferreira of Londonderry, NH, Francis M. Ferreira, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Pelham, NH, Maryanne Moncrief and her husband Keith of Milford, NH, and Joseph L. Carvalho, III and his wife Christine of Nashua, NH; also many grandnieces and grandnephews.
John was the brother of the late Francis M. Ferreira, brother-in-law of the late Joseph L. Carvalho, Jr. and uncle of the late Stephen Carvalho and Jo-Ann Carvalho-Hollis.
Calling hours will be Monday, Dec. 26, from 2-6 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
