TEWKSBURY - Edward D. MacDonald, age 75, a USMC Veteran of two wars, died Thursday,Mar. 18, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, after a lengthy illness. Hewas the husband of Shirley M. (Booth)(Mackey) MacDonald, with whom he would havecelebrated a 27th wedding anniversary on June 17th.
He was born in Brighton, June 17, 1928, a son of the late Daniel E. and Alice (Hillier)MacDonald. He was raised in Brighton and graduated from St. Columbkille High School inBrighton.
He enlisted into the USMC, and served in the Asiatic Pacific, China Theaters during WW2. Laterhe served in the European and Mediterranean Theaters during the Korean War.
He was employed as a meat cutter at DeMoulas/Market Basket and later at Tewksbury Hospital.
He was also a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge # 2070.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and his wife Colleen MacDonald of PA; adaughter and son-in-law, Maureen and her husband Dewey Mann of Salisbury Beach, NH; sixstep children, James Mackey of NV, Robert and his wife Debra Mackey of Hudson, NH, Michaeland his wife Debra Mackey of Methuen, Diane Mackey of Lowell, Donna Mackey of Tewksbury,Maureen Mackey of Lowell; two brothers, Robert MacDonald of Lowell, Richard MacDonaldand his wife Karen of Bow, NH; a sister, Helen MacDonald of Framingham; 14 grandchildren;and 3 great grandchildren.
His FuneralMass was celebrated Monday, Mar. 22, St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Following cremation, private burial wasin Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
