Isabel Alves of Taunton passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton on Tuesday December 20, 2011. She was 90. Beloved mother of Carlos Alves of Taunton, Rosa Andrade of Taunton, Maria Guilhmete of Fall River and Eugenia DaVeiga of Cape Verde Island. Isabel was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren, great-grandmother of 26 great-grandchildren and great-great grandmother of 1 great-great grandchild.
Isabel was born on February 19, 1921 in Achada Grande, Fogo Island, Cape Verde. Daughter of the late Jack and Guilhermina Alves, she and her parents came to the United States and settled in Taunton in 1969. Isabel worked as a seamstress and was heavily involved with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Taunton.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday December 22, 2011 from 5-8pm at Taunton Funeral Home, 8 Crapo St Taunton. A funeral will be held on Friday December 23rd at 8am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton. All are invited to attend.
