WORCESTER: Michael R. Lamonica, Sr., 83, a former resident of Providence St., died peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill. His wife of 56 years, Barbara R. (Warren) Lamonica, died October 1, 2006.
He leaves his son, Michael R. Lamonica, Jr. and his wife Lydia of Auburn; 3 daughters, Dianne J. Lamonica of Scranton, PA, Judy A. Lamonica of Worcester, Ann Marie J. Arcidi and her husband Michael of Hampton, NH; 5 granddaughters, Melissa A. Belanger, Victoria M. St. Francis, Marcy L. Lamonica, Carmela R. Arcidi, Angelina M. Arcidi; a great granddaughter, Abigayle M. Belanger; and 2 great grandsons, Bradyn G. Belanger and Cameron S. St. Francis.
He was born in Utica, NY and raised in Worcester, son of the late Philip A. Lamonica and Judy (Plotczyk) Gordon and attended St. Mary’s School. He lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Auburn in 2005.
Michael was an assembly line worker for many years making clocks at the Telechron Division of General Electric. He later worked for the Timex Corporation until he retired. He enjoyed cooking, opera music, playing the accordion and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
CALLING HOURS will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on WEDNESDAY, DEC. 21, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 a.m. on THURSDAY, DEC. 22, in ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, 40 Temple St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
