LOWELL -- William L. Martino, a Lowell resident and a U.S. Army veteran, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Tewksbury on Tuesday evening. He was 53.
He was born and raised in Philadelphia where he enlisted into the Army at an early age. He served with the Korean occupation forces in Korea and Vietnam, and was honorably discharged to recover from several serious injuries.
He only moved to the Lowell area with his fiancee in early 1999 after living in Hackensack, N.J., for about 14 years. For much of the past six years, he had been employed by Marriott hotel chain, most recently at the Newton Marriott Hotel.
He leaves his fiancee, Sabine Loechner of Lowell.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Feb. 16, in St. William's Church.
Interment was at the National Cemetery at Cape Cod.
