Obituary

Maurice W. Jobin, 92, formerly of Mitris Blvd., Woonsocket, died Saturday at Trinity Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of Therese (Carmel) Jobin. Mr. & Mrs. Jobin were married on December 11, 1944 and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary last week.
Born in Blackstone, he was a son of the late Henri and Lillian (Dalpe) Jobin. Mr. Jobin graduated from Blackstone High School and Hill College. He also received part of his education at the seminary in St. Victorie P.Q. Canada.
During WWII Mr. Jobin served in the U.S. Army with the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment in the European Theatre. He participated in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns and was involved in the liberation of several concentration camps. He was wounded in combat and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with 2 Service Stars.
Following his service, he worked at Pratt’s Drug Store in Woonsocket for several years. Mr. Jobin was later employed as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service in Woonsocket for over 25 years before retiring in 1978.
Maurice’s life revolved around his family. He will be remembered as being a devoted husband and father. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Raymond Jobin of Johnston, Robert Jobin of Tiverton, and Francis Jobin of Stoughton, MA. He was the father of the late Marie-Jeanne Freve. He was the brother of Lillian Remillard and Andree Jobin, both of Blackstone, and the late Camile Jobin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wilfrid W. Freve III, Judith E. Freve-Reese, Justin P. Jobin, and four great-grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Veronica Freve.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in St. Agatha’s Church, Fairfield St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
