Whitman – Marion A. (Simmons) Ehlert 84, a lifelong resident of Whitman, died Saturday December 17 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife for 59 years to the late Roy E. Ehlert, Jr.
Born and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Elton and Martha (Flockerzi) Simmons and a graduate of Whitman High School.
Before her retirement Marion had worked 26 years as a supervisor and inspector of returned goods for the former Bostonian Shoe of Whitman.
In her younger years she along with her husband Roy had spent many enjoyable hours riding on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
She enjoyed yard sales, shopping and dining out at many local restaurants. She was a self-taught piano player and loved music and singing. In the past she had sung at the Walkover Club and for a local radio station WBET.
In her earlier years she had owned three cats that she loved dearly.
She is survived by her loving sister Eleanor Mosher of Whitman, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Elmer and Kenneth Simmons.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday December 21 at 11 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rt. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 -11 AM.
