TEWKSBURY - Wilfred A. Lambert, an active member of the Tewksbury community, died peacefully Saturday morning, December 17, 2011 at the Palm Manor Nursing Care Center in Chelmsford following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Barbara M. (Simpson) Lambert, with whom he would have celebrated a Golden 50th wedding anniversary on February 3rd, 2012.
Mr. Lambert was born in East Chelmsford, December 26, 1930, one of five children of the late Thomas and Georgianna (Gouldreault) Lambert. He was raised in East Chelmsford, and lived in Lowell before moving to Tewksbury in 1965.
During the Korean War, he served in the Army's Signal Corps as a translator in liberated France.
He was employed for 35 years in the Missile System Division of Raytheon in Bedford, and later Tewksbury.
Throughout his residence in Tewksbury "Will" remained active as a member of the Planning Board, the Board of Appeals, as a Town Constable, and numerous other special task committees.
He was also well known at St. William's Church, where he served as an usher at the Saturday 4:00 p.m. Masses.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Thomas R. Lambert of Lowell, Eileen J. Leger and her husband Claude of Nashua, NH, Sandra M. Nuttall and her husband James of Hudson, NH, Nancy Covell and her husband Michael of Ashland, MA; seven grandchildren, Danielle M. and Lisa M. Leger both of Nashua, Jessica A., and Stacie L. Nuttall both of Hudson, Alexander M., Chloe A., and Blake M. Covell all of Ashland; three siblings, Rita Simard of Salem, NH, Robert Lambert and his wife Evelyn of Pepperell, and Doris Hayes of TN; and many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Arthur Lambert.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 21, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Life Choice Hospice, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 390, Waltham, MA 02451 will be appreciated.
