Barbara J. (Gynthersen) O'Brien
Longtime Tewksbury Resident
TEWKSBURY: Barbara J. (Gynthersen) O'Brien, age 69, a resident of Tewksbury for most of her life, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at home, following an apparent heart attack.
She was the beloved wife of Lawrence P. O'Brien, who passed away on February 7, 2010.
Born in Reading on July 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Martin G. and Ada R. (Knapp) Gynthersen.
Barbara was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School.
She was an avid bingo player at St. Williams Church on Friday evenings, and a frequent visitor to the Tewksbury Senior Drop-in-Center.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and crochet.
She is survived by her children, Lawrence P. O'Brien, Jr., Robert M., Patrick S. O'Brien all of Tewksbury, Barbara J. Salinas and her husband Lazaro of Ventura, CA and Ann Hovey of Nashua, NH; two brothers, Karl Finney of FL and James Finney of TN; one sister, Sandra Pondelli of Deerfield, NH. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was the mother of the late Marcie M. Weaver and Christine E. O'Brien.
Calling hours will be Monday, Dec. 19, from 10-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by her graveside service at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Rd., Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
